Privacy Policy

The short version

Your shop’s data — your sales, products, customers and prices — stays on your phone. We do not have a copy of it and cannot see it. We do not ask you to create an account. We do not sell anything about you to anyone.

The one exception is advertising, which is how the app is free. That is explained below.

What stays on your device

Everything you enter into DhandhoPOS is stored in a database on your own phone:

• Sales, bills and refunds
• Products, prices, barcodes and stock levels
• Customers, their purchase history, loyalty points and balances
• Suppliers and purchase orders
• Staff names, roles and PINs
• Your shop’s name, address and GST details

None of this is sent to us. It is not uploaded, backed up to our servers, or readable by us in any form. If you uninstall the app or lose the phone, that data is gone unless you made a backup yourself.

Backups

You can back up your shop to a single file. That file is encrypted, and it goes wherever you send it — your own storage, your own WhatsApp, your own email. We never receive it and we cannot unlock it for you.

Optional sync

DhandhoPOS can be connected to a sync server so more than one device can share a shop. This is off by default and has to be set up deliberately. If you connect a server, your shop’s data is sent to that server — which is either one we operate for you under a separate agreement, or one you run yourself. If you have not set this up, no sync happens.

Advertising

DhandhoPOS is free because it shows short video ads, supplied by Google AdMob. After a 14-day ad-free period, three short ads a day unlock the app’s editing features.

To show these, Google’s advertising software receives information from your device, which may include your device’s advertising ID, general device and app information, your approximate location derived from your IP address, and how you interacted with the ad. Google uses this to choose and measure ads. We do not receive your shop data as part of this, and we do not send your sales, customers or prices to Google or to anyone else.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your Android settings, under Privacy or Ads.

Permissions the app asks for

• Camera — to scan barcodes. Images are processed on the phone to read the barcode and are not stored or sent anywhere.
• Bluetooth — to find and print to your receipt printer. Used for nothing else.
• Internet — to load ads, and to sync if you have set that up.

Children

DhandhoPOS is a tool for running a business and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app’s release notes.
